I belt tested this past week for my brown belt. I FINALLY passed it and said "I'm finished testing for a while." But am I really? I love karate. I eat, sleep and breathe it (almost literally) My son is the same way. So, because I achieved my brown belt am I finished? Even though I'm not "testing" I'm being evaluated in some way, so I can't be finished testing. Right?
If you're anything like me, you set goals. Sometimes pushing yourself to achieve the goal. But what is the achievement of a goal? Success. Once you're successful at a certain thing, are you finished with it? Some people would be, but not me. I'm too hard headed to give up on something because I achieved it, I go on to bigger things, like my 2nd degree brown belt, which my goal to achieve is Feb/March time frame.
My thoughts: Giving up only makes you successful at giving up. Finish what you start, and keep moving past your goals. Continue to make goals because you're not finished until you take your last breath.
