The Lord God is my strength.
He makes me like a deer that does not stumble
so I can walk on the steep mountains.
Strength, what is strength?
Webster defines strength as
1. The quality or state of being strong
2. The power to resist force
3.The power of resisting attack
4. The degree of potency of the effect or concentration
Since half of these definitions use "power" I will also define power (by Webster)
1. The ability to act or produce an effect
2. Possession of control or influence over another
3. Physical might
4. A source or means of supplying energy
Looking at these definitions, it's easy to see why they go hand in hand. When people think of strength, they think of how strong they are. How much they can lift or squat. When they think of power, it's usually associated with an athlete's powerful move, or the engine of their car. But how many people think of strength and power being mental? An intangible force? Power gives you strength, and strength resists a temptation. Prayer gives you strength and power to over come temptations.
I take Karate and love it! Karate has given me power and strength. Physically, yes, but also mentally. It has taught me self control, confidence, patience, and pride. These things make my mind strong and teach me to be a better person and mother. Karate has also strengthened my muscles and made my body strong and healthy. This will help me live a long life and teach these things to my son and any future kids God decides to give me.
My thoughts: Don't think of strength and power as only physical. You're only scratching the surface of what you can be if you only think in one dimension. Your body's not one dimension, why think that way? Go deeper, power is knowledge. Strength is power. Learn, be wise and be powerful in your life
