Tonight me and my husband were watching America's Best Dance Crew and a group was break dancing. He was on his back spinning, then his stomach, then back and it was AMAZING. I looked at my husband and said "I can do that!" and laid down and did my version. All the while my husband was laughing hysterically at me. Him laughing of course made me laugh as I was NOT being serious with the dancing. My husband's remark was "you can except when you do it, it looks like you're having a seizure" Now to some people that could make you angry, but it made me laugh to the point I was in tears and my side hurt.
My first lesson as a mom was to never lose your child-like quality.....LAUGH.
Have you noticed that no matter what children do, they're having fun? They can be outside with twigs and turn them into a toy of some sort. If nothing else writing in the mud. They laugh at themselves. Have you wondered why? Society tells us that certain things are "in" and others are "out" Children don't know these rules yet so they don't abide by them.
As an adult, can you go out in your yard and play alone? No, society has said adults have "jobs" to do whether it be house work, yard work or our job. We don't take the time to stop and smell the flowers.
You must take the time to laugh at yourself. You must have fun doing everything. Your goal in life should be to be happy. Without happiness what do you have?
What's wrong with laughing at yourself? Honestly, it's good medicine. Laughter is good for the soul.
So, next time you're doing something "serious" try to put a little "spin" on it to make it fun. Who knows, your day just might get brighter.
